What an important point to clarify!! The magician doesn’t deceive…he merely activates the process and our minds run with it.
In a world full of distractions, it is so easy to get caught up in paying attention to the wrong thing. Even just this week, I said to The LORD “Silence my thoughts and fill my mind with what you want me to focus on! PLEASE Lord.”
I am so encouraged by the reminder that practicing our spiritual disciplines invites the Holy Spirit to blow the smoke away so weight remain undistracted. That is a visual that will stick with me!!
Such a common and continuing problem for us all, isn't it?? But it makes sense from the enemy's perspective. Distraction doesn't feel like we're doing anything wrong. It's just how life is these days... too many things to think about, figure out, plan for, etc. And off we go again. So glad it was encouraging and helpful. And thank you for sharing that!
This is a great word. One of the easiest things we do is lose sight of what matters most without even realizing it has happened. Our discernment and our ability to stay anchored in the Lord is more important than it has ever been. Let us have eyes to clearly see and hearts that stay fixed on Him.
I love the image of the Holy Spirit blowing the smoke away so we can see clearly. I've found that some of the greatest distractions in my own life haven't been bad things, but the worries, fears, and endless "what ifs" that quietly pulled my attention away from Christ. I also really appreciated this reminder: "We don't have to fall for the misdirection because we are not unaware of his schemes." What an encouraging truth. Satan may try to distract us, but God has not left us defenseless or unaware. Through His Word, prayer, and the work of the Holy Spirit, our vision can be continually cleared so we can keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Thank you for this timely and thought provoking message.
