In my more recent years I’ve become more cautious about how many books I’m reading that focus attention on “self-improvement” rather than focusing on Jesus as the transforming author of my journey toward eternal righteousness. I love the mirror analogy you’ve applied (and am a BIG fan of the working term “SDD”)
Thank you Bethany! And what you said is so true. It's such a fine line -- self-improvement sounds like a good thing. And for a period of time in my earlier life I (Susan) was sold on the whole idea. Until I realized that the term itself is a misnomer. We really can't improve ourselves to the degree that we need. Only the One who made us, redeemed us, and indwells us can truly renew and transform us... which is a significant upgrade to "improvement"!
